Hi Folks, Has anyone installed Office 2016 along side Office 2013? The following website suggests that one can install Office 2016 side by side with Office 2013: 'or example, It is possible to install volume license editions of Office (MSI) and Office Click-to-Run versions that are not the same version on the same computer, for example the volume license version of Office 2013 (MSI) and Office 2016 ProPlus (Click-to-Run).' How does one tell a volume license edition from a click to run one? I find Office 2016 Professional at the Microsoft Store but is this the MSI version and does it matter which one of the three ways you can get the program from the site make a difference - burn to disk, order a backup media copy, or just download and install.
I burned a copy of Office 2016 Professional to a DVD and when I started to run setup I got warned that prior versions of Office would be removed. I cancelled and here I am. I have spent hours with the sales specialists and first they say can't be done, then when they see the above like, they say it can but they don't know which version is the MSI or how to do it. Why is this an issue? I have clients who are on 4 different versions of Office and one is going to move to 2016.
I prefer not to need to buy a new computer every time a new version of Office is released. Up to now that hasn't been a problem. In fact computer has every version from 95 to 2013 on it and they are all running smoothly (although I don't have much use for 95, 2000, or 2002). Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Shane Devenshire, As the said, you cannot install the same version of Office or Office standalone Products with two different installation technologies on the same computers. And You also can't have two different versions of Click-to-Run applications on the same computer. First if you need to confirm the version of Office 2013 you are using, you can go to Control Pane-Programs and Features- right click Microsoft Office and select change. If you can find the option of 'Add and Remove features', this means it's Office MSI.
You also need to check the standalone version of Office 2013 (like Visio, Project, Skype for Business, or OneDrive for Business) Then as far as I know, there are 2 ways you can download Office 2016 MSI now. If you are a subscriber of MSDN, you can go to Subscriber Downloads to download Office: 2. You can contact Volume Licensing Service Center and check if you can download Office 2016: Hope it's helpful. The only version I could find for Windows is Office 2016 Prodessional Plus, the click-to-run version.
Talking with MDSN and Licensing support today bears this out. I'll just say that we expected the Enterpise tier of Visual Stuido with MSDN, that includes all the various versions of Office prior to 2016, would also include all the versions of Office 2016 that are sold retail. If anyone knows how to get MDSN subscription supoort for such MSI products as Office 2016 Home & Business for Windows, I'd sure like to hear about it.
